Thank you for sharing these tips and helping us feel like we don’t have to run away and become a hermit living in a cave.

I always turn on my playlists of my favorite songs of all time. It makes me sing and dance automatically - I forget about all the stressful feelings.

I have a Bose speaker that I sometimes turn on when I’m going to shower.

I hope that hack works for someone else too.

It works for mild depression too.

That has worked for me for decades. (I’m 6-1/5 decades old.)

Oh, music and dance are so powerful! Thank you for mentioning these. I actually wrote about dance for resilience in my post this week. If you haven't seen it, here you go: https://dvinall.substack.com/p/the-dance-of-resistance?r=2klz17

Dr Vinall, thank you so much for sharing a few quick, powerful and yet user friendly methods for helping us strengthen our vagus muscle and I would bet in the process help us also better regulate our cortisol levels. By the way, I love that smart ring you are wearing. Certainly an amazing way to track some of our health stress levels easily from our couches at home as you convey. I'm excited that there will be a day when we have a smart device that tracks our glucose levels without finger sticking or expensive continuous glucose monitors that have to be worn under the skin.

Meaning, the future of combining old-school mental health techniques with modern day smart technology used to track our health & wellness data seem quite life changing, pun intended.

Also, well done on your impromptu live session! Brene Brown would be proud. Five minues and you pack a punch in regard to helping us cut down on our stress levels from the body to the mindset going on in the cultural zeitgeist that is not healthy for any of us in my opinion.

Went into ER, thought I was having a heart attack. Stayed 3 days and the abnormalities on the ekg stayed weird. Last diagnosis was an inflamed vagus nerve.

Oh wow! Definitely need to strengthen your VM! It is often weakened by chronic stress and trauma. 🩵 Glad it was not a heart attack!

I live with traumas. Some reappear each decade. Also, chronic stress. Trying to figure out whats going on with my brain with no support from my husband and disabled son. Too start
